Does anyone know if this will fit? was created by OldHippie
Hi,
I have a question, one of many that I'll be asking. I have a KZ1000 P-19, which I am working on. The fairing was damaged so I have decided to take it off and use alternate lighting (basically building my own set-up)
I am looking at a headlight mount from a '71 Z1 Police bike to use. Do you think this would work ? Any input on this would be appreciated.
Mark

so if i go by the shape of the letters on the item in your first post.... i am gonna say 1981...... kzpolice??? bike.....allthough...i have not seen one of these brackets before. ..seperate...it does look like the right spacing and with a buckett and light you will be on a start...the 81 wiring harness went into two large rubber gromett protected holes in the back of the head-light dish.....you may find that a used buckett can be had for a few bucks online..did i not catch the year of your bike somewhere...also the normal fork ears for an 81 1000 differ from the earlier kz's...i think if you can get a whole set cheaper ...fork tube ears, light and housing....together you will save yourself any headaches...good luck....peace

Actually the part is listed as a "1971 Kawasaki Z1 Police Bike Fork-Mount Headlight Bracket with ears" (on EBay) and my bike is a KZ1000 P-19 (2000).

And I have the headlight and bucket already, just looking for something a little different for a "custom" job.

If you haven't bought this bracket yet have you looked into a universal? Check this link out has pretty good pic of the bracket in it
www.cyclepsycho.com/kz1000p/copcycle1.html
also sweet back member has this bracket on his bike the punisher search the kz1000 member gallery and click on the authors name for all the pics of the bike. These brackets are usually about 12-15 dollars on ebay new and will work on your bike, as I have them on a 95 kz1000p police bike, I have not had a chance to post pics of my bike but currently it has these brackets and a nice headlight bucket off a moto guzzi.

Actually, the eBay ad says 1974 ( tinyurl.com/79q7a5 )...which is still wrong as the earliest official Z1 C bikes were produced in 1975 (and those are very rare)...so it is anyone's guess what is actually being sold:huh:
