200mm tire extended swingarm info/help. was created by kzmarvo
I got me a kz! I bought a 1974 kz900 with a kz1000 motor in it. I been thinking the last few days on what i want it to look like and decided to go with the long low look. I am looking to buy a extended swingarm aluminum from a gsxr,zx12r, or whatever i get a deal on and mount a 200mm tire. I know i will have to have shock mounts welded on and use the brake set up on the swingarm that came with it. My question is will the chain line up ok, and has anyone did this on here.

you will have to run an offset sprocket and bearing support.

If the frame is a 74 it would be a Z1. If you hack the frame up you will catch some grief from some. Its your bike do what you want with it but get ready for the comments about hacking a Z1 frame. Some people would pay good money for that frame. My 2 cents

Spend the $100 and get a 77-78 kz1000 frame and cut to your hearts desire. Save the 74 frame for a resto.

Anyone have any idea where i can see some pics of kz's with what i want to do to mine? I plan to do the work myself, it's not my first time wrenching on a ol bike. I just never got into offset sprockets and stuff of that nature. I have tossed the ol gs swingarm's on and lowered em and stuff like that. I want a bike that is going to be different than most around here.

Ya looking for pictures of complete bikes after being modified(have some of those) or pictures of the frame being raked(don't have any of these)?
