Where's my pop?

I put on a new front tire today. When I aired it up I didn't get the normal POP! I expected to hear. I heard more of a pfffsst. It aired up fine and held pressure. I tried deflating and refilling several times but it just won't pop. I am little nervous that the bead didn't set. Is this a problem? How can I make the bead set if it is?

Sometimes remounting used tires it takes a scary amount of pressure to get them to seat. Not much experience with new tires.

Soap will corrode unprotected Aluminum.
There are lubricants made for mounting tires.
Rim Ease, Tire Lube, etc. The will not eat up your nice rims from the inside. out.

There is a real thin line that runs alongside the bead on the outside of the tire on both sides. This line is right next to the edge of the rim and should be an equal distance from the edge of the rim all the way around both sides. If there is any spot on the line that you can't see, then the bead is not seated.

i dont know if this applys to motorcycle tires; but i was olways tought to bounce them hard a couple of times...

Just give it a drop (maybe add some ooph to the drop) and catch the tire when it bounces back up. do this a couple of times and it should pop that bead on.

if its a tubeless did you remove the valve core from the stem when you tried to seat the tire?that lets the air go in a lot faster to help seat the bead on the tire once it pops reinstall valve core and finish airing up tire:whistle: goodluck, happy wrenching!

Try to spray silicon on the flang and bead seat area of the tire and rim. Watch your fingers! When airing up.

You can use a little grease to help it on.
This also helps seal the Rim Leaks.

I had a tire that did not seat many years ago and thought it needed to be ballanced, took it to the shop and they laghed at me because it just was not fully seated.

Bouncing it with it 1/2 inflated helps push the bead up onto the rim.

Do not pump it up real high because it cam come apart with too much preasure.

Well, I deflated it tonight, put the dish soap on and re-inflated it. A couple of bounces and pop! got my seal. Then I did the rear tire and it worked perfectly the first time. So, I am good to go. Come on spring! Thanks to all who responded.
