I sure don't agree with their assessments for gearing. Anyone who owns one of these bike with stock gearing (15/35) will always be searching for the elusive '6th gear' when cruising on the highway. Plus the engine vibration band of 4500-5000 will numb the hands. 15/37 for touring - yeah right, touring at 40 mph maybe - you'd be buzzing the motor and get about 25 to the gallon...

I got my bike out for its first real ride this weekend here in Ohio. A little over 200 miles on Saturday. I can't tell you how many times I went looking for the elusive 6th gear. This bike will see it fair share of highway driving. Which set up would you use?...Russ

On my own 900's (with a stock engine), I tend to run 15/33 gearing - this helps a little with the highway cruising, and doesn't hurt the get-up-and-go too much.

With the lighter crank, the 900's rev fairly quick anyway.

If your going to be on the highway alot with a 900 my pick would be 16t/35t or 16t/33t. Both you leave you some options. I like to be able to use a 14t or 15t for performance once in a while. It makes me think I'm on a completely different bike.

Jeff I must agree. I just got back from Daytona Bike Week late last night. I still have not found that elusive sixth gear and believe me I was searching. My hands are still tingling from the trip. I had a blast and will do it again next year.

Timebomb33... like the different variations. On a stock KZ900-A4 engine setup what would you use for gearing to get top speed in a 3 mile trap???
