76 KZ900 shock studs on the frame, need help! was created by TexasKZ900
I have a 76 KZ900, does any body know how the shock studs are fixed to the frame, welded, pressed in, or screwed in?
I'm putting a ZRX1200 swingarm on the bike and need to modify them.
Thanks

On most of the bikes, the studs are welded into the frame.

This is one of the great mysteries that no one has the answer for. There is no weld that can be seen and it looks to be pressed in. I have a bad one on my 78. am going to find out one way or another how those things are put on the bike this summer. I will let everyone know how they are attached to the frame. I think I'll try heating it up first and press it out. If that doesn't work I'll grind a couple of flat spots on it and see if it screws in. If that doesn't work I don't know what I'll try but it will come out one way or another.

just cut it off flush and drill it out to the size you need to go to.
