Needs to be fixed then right ? I want to sell it but not like that unless the buyer is aware of it. I heard its from wheelies. At least its not a frame rail

Well, I'm not in a hurry to kill myself, so...
I'm taking the frame to the usual shop, and they're going to "weld to there hearts content", or so my buddy says. :silly:
I've been researching a few things on the JB stuff, and I'm convinced that it would work, but only if done a "special way". Apparently some drag racers have had respectable luck with the stuff, but only by drilling many holes throught the parts to be bonded, patching, then putting strips of steel with holes accross the pices and slathering it all in the JB.
It works, but is apparently a REALLY ugly and huge patch!
Anyways, welding is so cheap! Why not!
Cheers gents!

jb weld is made to plug holes, bond small pieces together. nothing structural, it has it's places, a motorcycle frame is not one of those.

so lemme get this straight...you folks are saying that cracks in the frames of liter bikes are dangerous and construction epoxies are not gonna hold on a 600lb bike and 200 lb rider.....
interesting.......okay.....i guess i'm feeling ya.......are you sure.....what if i go slow....and never do jumps....

The bike with the crack is #03795, my other 73 Z1 is 11107, so maybe the problem is with the earlier frames. Im going to drill it and have it welded. I dont think Id want to do the whole bracing kit without the frame mounted in a frame jig although the steering heads are supposed to be welded crooked from the factory so they dont track right per a friend who raced the first Z1 in the country at Bonneville. They had to cut the steering head off and reweld them in a frame jig & true the front wheels to stop the head shake on the salt.

yeah for 99% percent of peoples riding style welding up the crack is ,maybe add a little gusset on back side where its not noticable.my 1327 bike with the 80ltd frame had same stress crack from wheelies.
