What can or can't be used?

posted a couple of questions over in electrical and got great help, so I figure the next place I need help is over here.
I just picked up a 77 kx650c1 in a trade. There was a fuel fire that burned up the wiring harness (the main problem) and the bike has been a project for a while. There are a few other things missing though that I need, I was wondering if these needed to be gotten from a 77 or if any 650 would work:
1. Air box - most likely lost in fire
2. Battery Tray (I may fab one up)
3. Side farings
4. Rear master cylinder (pedal, lines and switch are there)
5. Front master cylinder (I know these had a round resvoir, will a square work?)
That is all I found for now, I am making lists of what and where to buy.

Exactly what I needed.
Yeah, I figured on the dual brake system the cylinder would probably have a bigger bore.
The hardest problem I have had is the brake cylinders. The fronts go for a bunch of money even used and the rears are just plain hard to find.

One thing to keep in mind is that the 77 650 C-1 used 2 different types of rear caliper. The first 10,000 or so made used one type and then there was a mid production changeover to another type. It won't make any difference as long as you buy the entire caliper and mounting setup but buying just a caliper you need to pay attention.
I haven't pulled the caliper yet, but is this only the caliper, or is it the MC also?
I can weld/fab so making brackets isn't that big a deal if I have to.

I thought the suared rear pads did not come out until 1979 (or '78 on the D models).
My '78 C2 has the round rear pads, but my C3 had the square.

My '78 C2 has the round rear pads, but my C3 had the square.
I just checked the Kawasaki site and apparently my memory isn't as good as I thought. The early style pad was used for the first 23,100 bikes after which they went to the square type pad.
Rob it's odd that your 78 came with the older style caliper, the only thing I can think of is that your bike is a Canadian unit. Kawasaki probably figured they'd sell a few more there if the pad was shaped like a hockey puck.:laugh:
