Or am I overthinking it and should just cut off the lip of the sprocket... I'm tempted...
Any help / opinion appreciated

I have heard that you must use a bearing support with that large of an offset, but...........I am using a 5/8" offset sproket on my 750 and am not using a bearing support. To get the sprocket to fit under the cover i had the bearing support lip shaved off of the sprocket. I have put 100-200 miles on is all, but alot of those miles were ridden very harshly, and still no problems. I suppose it is very hard on the output shaft with no bearing support.
Yeah, I think I'll go through with making the support. I just want to ride it again, I'm riding my nake Goldwing GL1100 right now, and it's just not as much fun, maybe I'll try to trade it for a sportbike... btw. cool bike you have, love it.
