Need an extra inch... on my side stand, that is. was created by loudhvx
Hey, I was hoping someone could help me out. I'm looking to get a longer side stand because I'm playing with a taller suspension on my 81 KZ550D GPZ.
From the center of the mounting bolt to the heel of the foot pad is about 9-3/4".
Can someone with a 650,750,900,1000, or 1100 do a quick measurement on their side stand and let me know if any of them are significantly longer. It doesn't need to be precise, just within a quarter inch or so.
I found a list of bikes which use the same pivot bolt so I assume the sidestand mounts basically the same way.
Thanks a lot,
-Lou

Thanks Kman, but I actually have a couple spares myself. I think that most KZ's must use about the same length side stand.

I ended up cutting my stand and the spare I had, in two different places. Then welding them together to get my extra inch. After grinding and painting, it looks stock.

I ended up heating the top curve red hot with mapp gas and hammering out the upper bend. That changed the angle slightly, but it was like adding 2 inches to it. Amazing. I'll post some photos when I get a chance.

I ended up buying
this one
off ebay for my B2, which I think leans to far with the current stand.
Supposed to be 12" long.
We'll see how it works when it gets here.
