530 conversion help was created by toad
I have a 4.5" katana rim with a 530 47 tooth sprocket for my 78 kz1000 and was wondering a front sprocket match would be if I wanted to stay around the 15front and 40rear 630.So what would my counter sprocket be to reflect that but in a 530, thanks

A ratio of 15F/40R corresponds to 17.6F/47R. Obviously, you would have to round off the front to either 17 or 18.

I'm running a 18/40 530 combo with a 4.5" ZX6 rim on my '78 1000. I was running a 18/45 and could pull stumps out of the ground with that gearing. Acceleration was awesome but I was topping out at about 100mph.

thanks and what size of tire did you put on that rim? I was also wondering if I could use my kz axel or I have to find the axel for the katana rim or the gs1100 axel

I have a 160/60-17 Conti-Force on it now. You could run a 170 BUT you're only gaining 5mm per side and you get a flatter profile with the narrower tire.
What arm are you using? The normal thing to do is use the axle made for the arm as the chain adjusters/plates are made for the axle and arm. Then you adapt the wheel to the axle.

I currently run 17/38 which works good for me. 17"x 5 rear off a zx6. My first set up was 17/43, which was good out of the hole, but fell flat on the bottom end.
Try this link, helps out on figuring gearing:
Good luck

I am using the gs1100e swingarm, so I take it that I need the axel for it and then us the correct bearings to make it work. Also I wanted to try and use the rear sprocket since it came with the rim, thanks for all the help, great sight.
