900 in a 750 frame? was created by brakelikethe
Will a 900 engine from an early Z1/KZ mount easily into a MK2 750(1984)frame? I have a 84 rolling chassis that I wanted to transplant another engine into. I was hoping to find a wrecked late model ZR7 but found a junker 900 that is cosmetically trashed, but runs pretty good. The asking price is worth it for the engine and carbs.
Any thoughts on this swap?
The English bike mags always have KZ "specials" with Bandit/GSXR engines. Streetfightersmagazine has had enough of them that one would believe that it is a pretty straightforward swap.
Has anyone here ever attempted this?

I don't see why not, I seen it done with a 650 frame.

I think they were designated "MK2" in Europe and Japan. I'm referring to the second generation body style KZ750, squarish tank and tail section with triangular side covers, as opposed to the original body style which had round edges.
