1981 KZ1100 Center Stand Lock was created by davej6997
My bike is missing the center stand lock and I would like to get one. Does anyone know where to find one? Thanks

Never seen or heard of such a critter. Where does it go and what does it do?

The z1's,kz900's,Kz1000's,Kz1100's and Gpz1100 all have a return spring for the centerstand. Not sure what a lock would look like or how it's function.
These bikes also had a bumper for the retracted position cushion.

Yeah, MFolks, you describe the only kind of centerstand I've ever seen on any make or model of motorcycle. Wonder if his spring is broken or disconnected? Broken stud? Too many drugs?

Fwiw, seem to vaguely recall a few Kaw models that came with a built-in security cable stored inside the frame near the centerstand area that pulled out of the frame for use when desired.
As I recall, these cables probably worked okay for awhile until they rusted inside the frame and wouldn't pull out anymore.
Can't remember what the end of the cable looked like that protruded slightly from the frame tube.
This might be an hallucination.
Good Luck!

I havent seen on either. I was reading an article on the bike when it came out and they show a picture of it but dont say how it works. I was hoping to find out more about it on here. Here is the link to the site I found it on. Scroll down and the pic is on the right.

My brother in law's 550 ltd had the cable in the frame thing. I think it was an 82' and yes it was well rusted in. I have never heard of a center stand lock though.

my kz1100 had one. i forget what year the bike was as i didnt have it long and it was back in the early 90's..82?....anyway, when the bike is on the centerstand ,you can lock it so it cant come off centerstand.there was a lock cylinder there and you used ignition key to lock it..thats the theory anyway...we were standing around swilling one nite and i bet my friend he couldnt get it off the centerstand...trust me, if you push it hard enough it will bust whatever pin or piece that keeps it up on centerstand..... edit:just looked at pic in above posted link.. thats the puppy...

My 1982 KZ1000J has a holder for the "cable" on the left side. Never have figured out how to use the thing.

Just goes to show that no matter how "experienced" or "seasoned" (old) we get, there's always something new to learn about.
