I broke a chain was created by roy-b-boy-b
I was out testing my 34's and i busted the bike and i broke a master link. i called the wife and she picked me up . I got tools and with some help from neighbors got the chain on and back home.
I didn't have a link with a clip and had to install the master link with a punch.
I brought a block of metal to put behind the chain so i could give it a good lick but lost it some where.
Went to put my helmet on and the block was in there.

That's a spindly looking link, not a 630 I'll wager:)

"i always keep a spare master link on my key ring just in case.".... Yup, same here, brand new master clip packed in grease under the seat.!
Is it me or does the pin look rusted?
Same time Roy, to break the steel side plate (half moon shape) in half that way, how hard did you whack that thing...

I was rolling about 10 mph and whacked it about 4000.
Always worked before. It's not rusty but it is dirty.
I had ordered a new 520 chain and sprocket Tuesday. That extended swingarm takes a lot of chain. 98 for the 630.
I was lucky it spit the chain out. I got just two small nicks in the clutch cover.
I broke a chain in "76" and it broke the cases. They charged me the outraegous price of $450.00 for a new set of cases and to rebuild the engine with new rings. Roy

I was doing a burnout on one of my three cylinder two strokes back in the 80's and the master link failed.... The chain wraped around the counter sprocket grenaded the cases and proceded to bust a hole in the carb bowl above the sprocket...... Man what a fire.... between the oil from the crankcase and the fuel from the carb, fire was coming from both sides of the tank between my legs, scared the shit out of me, I baled at about 20 miles an hour and all I could do was watch her go till she fell over and burn to a crisp..... The guy riding behind me took off his jacket to try to put the fire out but no luck, he lost his jacket along with my bike.... If I only had a camera to record that fiasco.

I've only broke one chain and it was down to me running it WAY past it's end of life. I was pushing well over 70mph when it let go and zinged the motor. The chain shredded the chain guard and left teeth marks on the rear turn signal stem that looked like it'd been chewed on by a junk yard dog. According to the driver behind, the chain went up in the air 25ft or more and nearly nailed his car...

LOL i have been riding in the tobacco patch. It's dusty.
I haven't had a chance to check this engine out and the clean up will have to wait. I haven't rode run this engine 20 miles since i got it.
It ran like crap and i thought my jetting was low.Wrong.
The cam timing was off. It has carbon build up on no. 2 cylinder and is running low compression. I have run some ring free through the engine sitting on the lift and the 3 miles yesterday. Compression has come up 90 lbs.
When my chain and sprockets get here i will take the bike to town and start the clean up. I like to use Armorall Alum wheel cleaner and a pressure washer for the wheels and swing arm. This bike has a long way to go before it is pretty.
The chain also hit the duck tail.:S
