New to Family, 1979 KZ440 LTD
Front Shock Oil was created by mzandmz
1977 KZ650 needs new shock oil. What weight should I use. I am a 265 pounder abd bike is stock with saddle bags(fake leather).? :dry:

20wt fork oil and use the recommended amount. as heavy as you are i'd think about going to a different spring fromprogressive suspension you will need a stiffer spring rate the stock springs have over 30 years on them and also the bike would have been set-up for someone around the the 150-175 lb mark so it may be a bit softly sprung for you.

Stock oil on mine is 15W, I found that to be the best but you could try 20W and see if you like it.
There are definitely some very nice gas charged rear shocks and progressive springs that will help a lot. Check Z1 Enterprises, they used to sell them.

try putting some 1x 1 pvc spacers on top of the spring and replacing the fork cap when you change the oil.......gives the front some pre-load...on mine it wakes up the front a tad...combined with air caps,prog springs,10 w oil,and new tire ,correct pressure....good luck
