modify a brake pedal spring?531blackbanshee wrote:
mark, the atv dragracers have to use spring loaded tensioners to keep from throwing the chains on the stretched out swingarm bikes.they are typically for 520 chains but could be modified or have a custom roller built.
remember the bottom of the chain is where the slack is,the top run is the one with the torque on it.

This would be sooooo easy to make. all i need to find is the spring. any ideas are welcome.

i dunnno bro i have a tenancy to over engineer things
plus as a after thought
it will be easier to get a hydrolic set up to give just the right amount of tension compared to getting a spring to supply it.
plus a spring looses it tension over time, hydrolic's don't if properly maintained.
worse thing your strip the teeth off your sprocket giving it the beans!

Nothing wrong with over eng Kano. but this seems simple enough to try , if i can find a spring.
Good thought there Plumman. i just pulled 1 out of my spare parts box. that is the right idea, just a little large in the mid. i may be able to do something with it if i cant find a better 1.
Thanks.
