Extended bike chain length was created by Infektid
Hey guys im working on a bobber kz400 project I just extended the rear by 4 inches.
the standard chain for this bike calls for 530x104
obviously I need 8more inches worth of chain... how should I go about this?

The quick math is this:
You added 4" to the swingarm so you need 8" of chain.
530 chain is 5/8" pitch (roller center-to-center)
So: 5/8" = .625"
8" / .625" = 12.8 links of additional chain.
Chain comes in even number links so you should order 116 links (104+12) if you've got ample room on the adjusters or order 118 links (104 + 14) to be on the safe side.
Personally, I'd order the 118 and when you get it threaded around the sprockets, determine if 116 will work.
Shortening a chain is easy! Chain stretchers are expensive!
118 links of RK 530 X-ring chain $104.78 at Z1Enterprises! :woohoo:
