KZ1100 fork adapter tool sizde .. 17/19 mm?

I am tearing apart the forks on an 82 KZ1100 and am trying to get out the allen bolt. I've read the threads on using a 17 or 19 mm bolt head to hold the internals on kz650 forks.

Does anyone know the size bolt head I need for the KZ1100 forks?

if you have access to good aircompressor and an air rachet you should be able to spin the bolts out without holding the damper assembly. goodluck,happy wrenching!

Unfortunately I don't have access to those tools

if you talk nice to the guys at local bike or mechanics shop theyll probably spin that out for ya.

I'd have to put it back together though .. and thus would need a tool to hold the insides together.

I had a thought and tried the 17mm and 19mm bolt-heads which supposedly works for the kz650s and they didn't "catch". I wonder if the kz1100 has thicker forks and therefore maybe a 21 or 23 mm bolt head would work .. hmm .. maybe time for another trip to the hardware this afternoon
