I was using high-metallic pads at one time, and they made more of a grinding noise.
Changed to the cheaper pads and problem solved.

Of course my opinion only as other guys have had luck. I threw enough aftermarket trash brake pads in the trash over the agony of this problem that I won't go through it again. Look on ebay for original pads. I've aquired about 6 sets so I don't go through this.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

Pretty much sums up my experience as well. I also drilled small holes in the face of the pads and stuffed graphite in them to change the coefficient of friction: worked for a couple of weeks then the graphite was gone and the squealing came back.Brake grease will do nothing, shim will do nothing, brake squeel stop behind the pads will do nothing. beveling, sanding the pads will do nothing. Steel wooling or sanding the rotor will fix the problem for one day or so, then it will return. You can either get a different brand of pad and hope for the best or put up with it.
