I find it easiest to search by year only without entering a vin or anything. Once into the diagrams, click the part number, then in the new window click the yellow/black ? icon.

Cross-reference all of the other panel assembly parts to see what other bikes will most likely match.
By any chance, is your panel black?

I had a local engineering company heli-arc weld my broken one. It will work until I get the one from ebay.

Hee. Kawasaki calls it a rear brake panel.....It helps if you know the real name for these parts!....
I asked about it being black because that may be why it has a different part number. I'd guess that your damaged panel isn't stock. Not that it matters, but one from any KZ550, 650 or 750-Twin will most likely work. Glad you found one.
PS: If it hasn't been done (or if you don't know the age of them), replace the rear brake shoes. The glue that binds the lining to the shoes can fail over time, leading to a locked rear wheel. Mine locked when rolling the wheel off the center stand - very lucky.
