I built the tool with the 17mm bolt in the end of the tube for the new forks I got and it worked great. the problem I'm having is I can't use those forks so i need to take the stock forks apart but they don't have the "hole" that the bolt head fits into to take them apart. I looked down in there and it looks like it's smooth with no way to stick something in there to hole the guts. My compressor took a dump on me so the broom handle trick won't work. Any other tool I could make that will get the forks apart? I'm going to have them powder coated and put new seals this winter.

The factory tool I've seen has a long T-handle w a metal pyramid on the end. I guess the 4 edges of the pyramid grip the head of the damper rod.
