Has anyone here had their factory triple tree modified for newer forks, i.e. 00-08 ZX6R forks?

ZX6 fork tubes are 50mm in dimension, truly would be no safe way to accomplish on KZ tree... easier to just fab up a coupler for KZ steering stem into ZX trees....

Agreed with OMR...
There would not be enough of them to hold the 50mm on even the bottom yoke, let alone the top.
Just be sure converting a new tree to remember the steering stops. Keep from denting your tank.

thought i'd chime in what ive done.
a couple of yrs ago i put a set of 40 mm gpz1000r (86) forks on my bike,
i was able to open up stock triple trees 3mm from 37 to 40 mm.
however there isn't enough metal there to go much bigger.
so when i came to putting a busa front end on,
i had a set of 1 off custom tree's made in Canada.
I'd give you his contact info but i havn't been able to get a reply from him in 6mths sorry. :S

You guys are correct. I just talked to the shop doing the work on my triple tree. It's going to be a custom triple tree with the steering stops for $600. Anyone know someone that can do it cheaper?

I would think you can adapt your zx6 tree by changing the stem cheaper than $600.

Are you also planning on a rear change as well?
Reasoning, front and rears work together for a smooth ride and suspension not to mention safety here....
Also, due to the width of a ZX6 front, I had to relocate my tank and seat back an inch for turning radius of the front otherwise the fork tubes would hit the tank...
Do some research before you get going on this matter for this a considerable amount of work to accomplish...
Is it worth it, oh hell yes but it is work just the same and there's a couple of extremely important issues to deal with to get it all to work correctly... i.e. no high speed wobbles or tank slappers....
Maybe this will help in providing you some insight in what you're facing in fabrications/modifications....
