Need the gs swingarm pics was created by donthekawguy
Someone posted close up pics of the gs swingarm conversion with arrows pointing to the spacers and listing what they are. Well I finally got my color printer working and now I can't find them. Could you please post them again? Thanx.

Wow...talk about timing. I got a line on a gs1100 arm as well(keeping fingers crossed!!!).....so I second the motion for that re-post.....
Someone who has done this should do a write-up as far as what all is needed. Would be doing everybody a huge favor!!!!

Pic is of my 650 . the shims go on each side of the swing arm pivot inside the frame ,, Make sure you clean up under the caps and grease the needle bearings , I used washers from the hardware store ,, it is a real nice fit ,, Baldy has better pics and dont forget to look in the arcives for past pics and info i48.photobucket.com/albums/f245/shoe48/100_0501.jpg

Heres my 2 cents. I used two 1/8" spacers on each side of the pivot point on the swingarm. I used the original KZ pivot bolt for the axle bolt because the GS arm is wider. I then used another KZ pivot bolt for the axle and since I did not want to swap out newer and bigger wheel bearings I simply turned down two spacers for the axle bolt to make up the difference in size between the GS axle holes and the KZ bolt. The KZ bolt is slighter smaller in diamteter than the GS axle holes. I then cut off the lower eyelet on my Fox shocks and welded on the GS clevis style mounts in their place.

I tried to use the pivot bolt as an axle but it is to small in diameter .long enough though , uses the same nut as the axle . I had bushings made for each end of the swing arm .. What KZ pivot bolt did you use ?? I am now in the middle of drilling it all out to 20 mm with the larger bearings :)

Just to clarify

For a KZ650:
Swing arm pivot bolt = stock kz650
rear axle= GS1000
Rear caliper bracket = i drilled mine out or You could use a kz1000 one.

KZ and GS axle diameter is 20mm KZ650 is 17MM
Side note: If you swap this swingarm in onto a KZ650 it will lower the bike jsut a touch since the shock mounts on the swingarm are now moved back by about 1 1/2 inches. You will need a longer chain and a longer rear brake line. *** important *** if this is for a KZ650 make sure you have KZ1000 rear wheel spacers otherwise you cannot fit your wheel properly.

I used the KZ pivot bolt as the axle I simply turned two bushings to make up the difference between the smaller diameter of the KZ bolt and the axle hole on the GS swingarm. I also used the stock KZ chain ajusters, very simple. That way I did not have to switch out bearings or drill out the rear brake bracket.
