One question:
Working on a 77 kz650
Removed the old lower inner race.
I'm about to install the tapered ones.
should i keep the plastic grease seal and the big washer which were under the old inner race, or throw them away with the old inner race?
thanks

I would keep them, one, you need the space taken up for the nut, and two, it should help keeping crap out of it.
sure others will chime in

I'm not sure about the "big washer" you mentioned, but I did not re-use the grease seal. The new tapered bearings seal up so much better than the old "ball" type it didn't appear to need the rubber seal. Be sure to grease it all realy well. Mine works better than ever before. Ed

That "washer" holds the rubber seal in place so if you want to keep the seal (good idea) then you need both. That seal is just there to keep crap out - if you do any cold weather riding where they salt the roads it swiftly becomes something that you would want to keep.
If you ride only in good weather then it can be tossed.
