Do tell. Was it at speed or rest?sakiguy wrote:
If my bike tipped over, the engine guard would prevent damage I hope.
Or the engine guard might crack and punch a hole in your alternator cover (Ask me how I know  )
Never been keen on the construction or mount points for those case guards.
Your case looks prestine, so I would hate to see it hurt.

And were they 2-point case savers or 3-pt.KZ250LTD wrote:

I've heard tell that the 2-pt type fold over easily, whereas the 3-pt case savers are actually quite strong. I bought (then resold) a set of 3-pt case savers that had some pretty good road rash, but they didn't look bent.

It was only at about 20mph thru a left hand turn and the back lost traction. They are 2-point but if I'm remembering correctly, the guard on that side may have already had a small crack on one end so i wouldn't completely put down all 2-pt savers. Three point should obviously be better but either way, my alt-cover would be in worse shape if I had no guards at all!

The 3 point case savers saved my engine.
The bike was sliding on one side, tires grabbed and flipped over to the other side to slide some more.
I'm still using the same case savers today.
Now if they only made tank savers. From the same slide:

The stories I've heard about the 2-pt type were just like yours: they fold over easily on low speed spills. It was only at about 20mph thru a left hand turn and the back lost traction. They are 2-point but if I'm remembering correctly, the guard on that side may have already had a small crack on one end so i wouldn't completely put down all 2-pt savers.
