killer 1300 project

cool, i had always wondered about doing something like that with stock shocks. i have always thought about a monoshock set up but with the two stock shocks instead.

just all around fab coolness going on there.

The rear suspension looks to be the same design as the Vincent. What I find the most interesting is the rear wheel. I'ld be concerned how true it is though, but the work looks to be very well done.

I too would be interested in knowing more about the rear wheel .. What or how was it cut ? Real neat bike for sure ..

The project looks great but i have a question for you. Why did you go with twin shocks instead of a modern single? You went through the trouble of setting up what looks like a great swingarm but are still using old shocks?

my thoughts exactly, the rear is really clean like that, (not quite as nice as a modern swingarm and mono shock setup in my personal opinion) but why still 2 shocks?

I wonder if its just to be differnt meaning for looks. It does look cool as heck but i would suspect that performance is less than par with a modern single shock.

The adjustable turnbuckle support for the swingarm brace is ingenious. He can control the effective springrate with just a few turns of the buckle independently from the preload. Maybe he wanted 2 shocks for clearance reasons or it was easier to throw two shocks up there with a single turn buckle in the middle.

Figured we do something different, The stock shocks will soon be updated with some modern shocks.

Your wheel conversion is the most aggressive one i have ever seen.

I'm impressed! That was a ton of work on the rear wheel conversion. As for it being true, if in doubt it will show up on a spin balance if you got a dealer around who has one instead of bubble balancing.

The suspension loop is right on the tire! Man, that is close! In some of the shots it looked to be touching but I know he wouldn't let it rub... man that's close!

I don't see a problem with the dual shocks except a better shock would be nice after all that work. The turnbuckle is cool but the pivot points are metal to metal. Don't you think some pressed in oil-lite bushings or 660 SAE bronze bushings would be needed on the 4 pivot points? I'm saying that on the assumption he isn't going to graany this thing around town! :lol:
