Fork oil weight was created by savedrider
How critical is it to use the specified fork oil weight? For example, the book calls for 10W oil for my year bike. Can different weights be used for different results? I have a bottle of 15W in my shop and I'd just as soon use that rather than buy a bottle of 10W. Will it make that much of a difference? In southern California we have a warmer climate anyhow so I imagine that affects the weight of the oil by thinning is somewhat. Any thoughts?

15W is fine, I prefer it actually.
Use whatever fork oil you want, and if you don't get the desired result just drop it out and replace.

I've used 15W BelRay Fork Oil in my KZ650, changing it every 2 years, since I bought the bike new in 1977. I've never had any fork problems and it handles well for me. Ed
