Tried and True Swingarm Swaps was created by badrhino

Just wondering what all nwer swingarms will fit the KZ1000. I have heard gsrx600 and a few others. But would like a thread started with all Year/Make/Model of successful swingarm swaps. Please list any modifications that are needed to get them to fit.

early gpz 750 the first with eccentric adjusters, my personal favorite gs1100. and now i'm working on a 91 1100 katana single shock conversion it just about falls into place perfectly.

For standard dual shock applications the GS1100 the ZR750/1100 Zephyr and ZRX1100/1200 are prety much direct swaps.

74 Z1-A stock
76 KZ-900 Totaly stock vice MAC pipe

78 Z1-R 100%MINT 500 original Mi.
78 Z1-R Yoshi 1103 kit stage 1 cams Yoshi pipe. Etc

Yeah I know about those with dual shocks I was just wondering what all newer swingers with single shocks would fit without too much fabbing.

2005 gsxr 600/750 fits a gpz 750 with a couple spacers. If were starting a thread I thought I'd add my swap.I can measure tom if you like.

u can find my thread by searching 810 streetfighter, i used a 2004 gsxr1000 swingarm that fit with a couple spacers. Alot of people on this forum have pulled off some great looking swingarm swaps. Check out OMR's build, one of the finest IMO

1995 GSXR 750 swinger fit in my '78 KZ1000 A2 with spacers in the pivot, and I had to weld in mounts for the upper shock and lower linkage.

I scored an 07-08 GSXR-600 Swinger with Shock & Linkage on E-bay for $45 shipped.

Now to make the time and figure out the fab work. Oh and find the rest of the pieces like wheels, brakes, and some newer forks.

How about KZ750? Will any of swingarms fit? I'd like to try an '05 R6 swingarm. (It's black and comes with a fender from Yamaha).

None of these are a direct DROP IN swap. Any swing arm can be made to fit with the right tool. Even the old stand by like the GS1100 swing arm was not a direct fit. Sometimes they had to have new bearings put in, sometimes they had to be shaved, sometimes shimmed. to do this swap, you have to do research, experimenting and you have to know a little about what you are doing and not be discouraged very easy.

First of all you will have to do some welding and cutting on your frame to convert it to "Monoshock" to take that swing arm.

Oh, I did forget, You might have to cut off your rear foot peg mounts with some of these swing arms because they are very wide.
