If in doubt take it out. I have to agree with timebomb, If the material is questionable, than paint the legs if you can't remove or replace the component. Granted p-coat is more durable, however durability means nothing if the leg or component is ruined in the baking process. Have you looked into Dupont Imron paint. I used a lot of this when painting industrial and heavy equipment. It is Mil-spec'd and damn near as durable as long as you put several coats on.
Good call on the Imron. I forgot about that stuff. Works pretty good on the bottom of speedboats and airplanes. Ought to hold up on fork legs.
