1984 KZ750 L4 Gas Tank - What else would fit?

I'm new to this forum and I thought I might get some useful answers here. I just bought a kz750 1984, I think it's L4 (or L3?). The tank was rusty, the previous owner tried to kreem it but he did a MESS in the tank. Looks like the Kreem stuff was outdated when he used it. I'm trying Acetone in it but I'm experiencing difficulties when its time to seal the gas cap and the petcock hole. Anyway, I will see the results in a couple of days...
My question is: What other tank would fit this bike? I'm asking because if I can't get good results with this last attempt, I'll try to find another one but I can't find the exact one on ebay or the classifieds...
I don't mine if its not the exact same, I'm planning on giving this bike a more 'cafe' look. I just don't want to have to work the frame.
By the way, I'm french canadian, so pardon my english...
Thanks,
Olivier

As for your current tank, you should make some block-off plates for the underside holes - gasket material & plywood or something, and use a freeze plug (or something) in the filler opening - a rubber plug w a bolt thru it that can be tightened to expand it to a tight fit. Also, be sure to seal the fuel cap bolt holes. Por-15 may sell a liner removal kit. Good luck.

I tried 3 or 4 different types of gasket and the best seems to be with wood and rubber.
But in the gas level sensor hole, its impossible to use something thicker than a few millimeter, because of the depth (or absence of depth) of the holes.
As for the gas filler hole, I've tried with a garpage bag stucked in the hole this morning.A few drops came off but nothing too crazy, but i'll see once I get back from work...
Hopefully I can recover it. There're big chunks of that kreem shit in many places in the tank.
Tabarnak!
Thanks!

Nice looking bike there.
Is that a picture of your bike?
I've always liked the style of the '80s KZ standards and GPzs, but have heard of difficulty finding spare parts.

Damn! The one you sold was nice! That's what I would need, since I want to bring the bike to an all black look (maybe mat).
anyway, I think I couldnt find the original decals. This model is rare, but the color of mine is even more...
I still have the black tail and fairing if you are interested

Yes, this is my bike. I bought this one for 350$ 2 weeks ago.
And yes, I was far from thinking it would such a pain to find spare parts...
I have almost another complete bike for parts, but no spare tank...

ReproductionDecals.com has decal sets for the KZ750-Sports USA models. I don't know if they're the same as the Canadian bike.... I think I couldnt find the original decals. ...
