ZRX KYB's on 1980 Z1R

Have almost everything sorted, and about a full weekend's worth of reassembly prior to a test ride, but ran into a not-so-little hiccup with my plan to fit shocks from a ZRX onto the 'Ol Girl. The fitment is surprising perfect, but ran into a spacing issue on the drivetrain side. When mounted, the left shock is about 1/8" too close to the chain. The bottom 2 shock coils will rub.
I really want to keep the stock swingarm without cutting or welding. Is there any way I can get the bottom mount 'spread' to allow me to shim it?
Any suggestions or other ideas?
Thanks in advance - Mike

Now I am interested, would you mind sharing some info on your conversion?
Sprockets used?
Gearing?
Chain of choice?

I did think about a 530 or 520, but then I would have to deal with offset sprockets, gearing ratio calculations and whatnot, right?
If your bike has the stock arm and rear tire it's real easy. Z1 Enterprises has the sprockets and chain and a guide on the 530 conversion to calculate your ratio:

look at this example of a kz1000 525 chain this will give u an idea. if u search this data u may find what u need. just referance the hole spacing and spline. or call them for advice. u may be able to mill the sprocket hub as another option. thats what i did to my zrx12 hub.
