It should be able to handle the higher gearing no problem, may have to downshift to accelerate up hills but cruising flat will be no worries.I'm only about 155 lbs. and My dad rides my bike occaisionally. hes around 180. im only 17yrs old. and dont expect to be heavy anytime soon.

I think that 17/36 is closest to the RPM value that you said you were going for.BH, do you recomend the 17/37 combo then?

I honestly don't know. I would use the OEM lookup at Bikebandit to get the part number for the sprocket and see if it crosses to other years and models. Sprocket Specialists sells sprockets in any tooth size but they cost more than the OEM ones. Usually, they are the only way to get smaller rear sprockets. Also, make sure the sprockets are the right chain type (530 or 630 or whatever). I saw small ones for my bike that were the wrong chain type.hmmm. On bikebandit.com. under aftermarket parts. they only have a 38t or higher for the 550. but for the 750. they have down to a 32t. will a 36t for the 750 mount on my 550? i would think it would being the same year.
