I just put two new tires on my 550. I took both wheels off myself, brought them to my dealer and had them mount and balance. they charged me at a rate of $84/hour. and my total bill was $46.79. so. in my opinion. it was well worth it. Now i know they are balanced and that it was done right.
Do you realize how many posts there are on KZR by people upset because the dealer mounted their tires and it "wasn't" done right?
Normally, it's the newest and least experienced person in the shop that gets the job of changing tires.
Always inspect your tires and wheels when you get them back, only takes a few minutes and could save your butt.

Thanks for all your input guys. I am shopping tonight for a tire. I did inspect the front tire and it appears to be brand new, no cracks and no visible wear. I think the guy I bought it from must have realized how bad it was and changed it.
If you are keeping the front tire than make sure that the rear tire matches in compound and design. Mixing compounds is not a good idea. What ever tire you have on front, get its mate for the rear. It could be just dangerous wit mis-matched tires as with a bad tire.

if youve ever had a rear tire blowout causing bike to try and swap ends at 50mph id guarantee that bike would be parked till its fixed
Amen to that! Happened to me once on my old BSA - once is more than enough! Ed

To be honest the front tire looks very good. Should I change both tires at the same time or does it matter? Also, I am in south Jersey, does anyone have a recommendation on where to go for new rubber?
I've found this to be a pretty good site.
