What is the harm, if any, of putting a tire labled "Front" on the rear?

Some manufacturers sell a combo tire. It has two directional arrows. Mounts one way for front and the other for rear. Why? Dominant stresses are in opposite directions on front and rear. Aside from a bi-directional tread pattern, I don't see any difference in construction between these and those sold as 'front'. I'm talking bias ply here. Don't know about radials.

I'm thinking about putting a lower profile tire 120/70x18 out on the rear, but the only tires that I can find in that size are labled "Front".

I wouldnt do it, there is a reason they say front on them, the internal construction of the tire will be differant, need to carry a load and driving force on the rear
