Winner, winner, chicken dinner!
Now that I have your attention, who is interested in a writeup on rebuilding a mono-shock?
OMR had the mono shock three times so far.....seems that one never learns

I had no nitrogen pressure whatsoever in this shock. Not surprising since it's a 15 yr old peice, but in my research I discovered numerous cases of new GSXR owners with no discernible pressure in their shocks as well. One has to wonder how well these things actually retain their pressure, and what effect it has on the handling. I guess that the biggest effect will be the loss of dampening due to foaming oil. I have done some reading about the whole compressed air vs. nitrogen thing, and I must say that in theory the nitrogen has advantages. However, you can't argue that air is 78% nitrogen, and this is a very small volume. Based on the construction of this bladder, I'm not sure that it could be expected to reliably hold 175 lbs of pressure for any length of time anyway.
I'll probably have it charged at a local shop, but I find the discussion worthy of further research. I also look forward to the rebuild of the shock on my zx-10r to see if there is, in fact, any pressure left in that shock. I will say that as I ride that bike for extended periods, I notice that the ride does get more harsh.
I have a feeling that I just lit the campfire.

Mark I definitely notice the suspension "feel" change as I ride my other bike on the street. Either a long ride or a hard ride will make it feel quite harsh. I know what's inside the fork on that bike, but I haven't touched the shock yet, and it's overdue for a rebuild. I would suspect that foaming oil that has lost it's viscosity from overuse could contribute to a loss of dampening.
