cheap bastard! :laugh:U dont need to go out of your way to find tapered bearings. the new bikes still use round ones.i'm not sure why the tapered ones are so popular for an upgrade ? i know the round ones tend to dent the races sometimes, but why do they still use the round ones in the new bikes?

That's a good question, but having replaced the ball type with tapered roller bearings I would never use the ball type again. The tapered rollers have WAY more bearing contact area, provided a dead smooth feel, and will certainly outlast the ball type. If you ever have the front end pulled apart do yourself a favor and make the switch. Ed
