Newer-Style Control Levers - '81 GPZ 1100 was created by GPZ1100_Rider
Hi:
After spending some time riding my new bike, I've found that I'd like to switch out the control levers to the newer type with the offset in the lever that allows a closer reach. There are several available on Ebay, but they're for newer Kawasakis. Has anyone switched out their older KZ or GPZ levers for these types, with something from a newer model? If it takes a little creative machining with a Dremel, I can do that too.
Thanks in advance.
Marty

there are two options that are easy enough for low brows like me to recomend...
first if the lever you show really does fit nicely in your perch and the brake is the same shaped type...then you may have either an 81? gpz 1100 or some one put old school shaped levers in your bars....either way...we solve the perch and brake style and we go from there,,
i believe you just need to call Z-1 enterprises and order the correct "gpz" levers,as you may have the eraly style on your bike now...one way to tell is if you have the early style they will be a tad floppy...the area where the bolt goes through the perch and lever is thinner on the early levers i believe.....
or you can get a set of power levers easy enough online by searching GPZ or kz1000 Magura power levers....they also have nice copies of the "magura" for cheaper knocking aroundd the internet
the picture below is of a true GPZ lever

this is a pic of the early kz upgrade levers sometimes called power levers.......they should work also but take a spacer to not be floppy and even then may still be a little loose...imo

can you post a pic of your bars from where your helmet looks down 24" top view with levers and grips and cables shown...
and one of a close up of each assembly...clutch side...brake side.....kneeling in front of the bike camera about a foot in front of the levrs assemblies....then others will know for sure....
good luck
both the gpz and power levers are gonna make a big difference.....

Here's the shots of the controls - '81 GPZ 1100. I'll check out Z-1's offerings.
