Apparently there's no such thing as a dumb question, so please bear that in mind while answering this:
What about MIG welding two beads around the rim to secure the tire? Is it possible to MIG weld cast aluminum in this fashion? I certainly wouldn't be doing the welding, but I've befrended a machine shop down the road in the past few months- they might know what to do?
