'76 LTD Frame Compatibility was created by MidWestLTD
I have a '76 KZ900 LTD. It was involved in an accident a few years back, and its time I started on fixing it. the frame was bent, enough that I don't know if its worth fixing it. I kinda wanted to keep my original frame so I could keep the serial number...24th LTD assembled in Lincoln. Anyways all this brings me to my questions is there differences between the LTD and Non-LTd frames? Or what frames are compatible with this model of KZ? The other thing I am looking for are the handle bars....mine might be fixable, but I've been looking on Ebay with no luck.
Thanks

I have read that some LTD's did not come with center stands and mounting. I think that is the only diffrence in the frames.. I am not sure what years this happend. Also the 77 and newer frames changed from the 76. They look diffrent for the rear peg and exahust mounting. But some early 77 frames may be the same ?

Where is your frame bent at ? Maybe we will know if its repairable or not.

For the bars.. new chrome ones should run you about $30.. but I dont know if you can get them in OEM style. Check out the parts links page on this website.

The 76 LTD frame is different where the rear master cylinder mounts....
the 76 "A" model had drum rear brake. the 77 and newer LTD1000 had a different set up for the master cylinder.

MidwestLTD welcome! I also have a 76KZ900LTD that I am in the process of restoring. Good luck on finding a frame. Perhaps it won't be too difficult. Dennis Kirk 2006 metric bike catalog, page 451 lists "Flanders" handlebars that claim to match OEM bars. They're Pricey! They list Kawasaki LTD type and LTD style with measurements. Check with Dennis Kirk tech support (1-320-358-1915). They should be able to tell you exactly if these will match. Depending on which LTD the prices are $84 and $102. Part numbers are 59-1835 and 59-2117. The 59-1835 is very close to my stock LTD measurements. Hope this helps.
