Steering head bearings was created by wizardmc
Does anyone have the bearing numbers for the tapered bearings for a 77 kz1000?
Want to convert from ball bearings to tapered. Have a friend that works at a
bearing supply but don't want to tear down the bike until I get the bearings.
Thanks
Marc

30x48mm 30x52mm Looks good in the industrial parts books.
But the outer races are paper thin, they are hollow ground down.
Believe me, I have tried for years to get standard bearings for this applications.
Search ebay, "AllsBalls" sells them. You got guys selling them from $27 to $37 dollars.
One guy has free shipping too.
Plan on spending $32 bucks to your door.
Livin in "CheektaVegas, NY
Went thru 25 of these in 40 yrs.
I SOLD OUT! THE KAW BARN IS EMPTY.
More room for The Old Girl, Harley 75 FLH Electra Glide,
Old faithful! Points ign. Bendix Orig. carb.
Starts everytime!

The All Balls kit is worth it IMO. You get both bearings, both races, and the seals for around $30. You would spend that much buying the individual bearings if you could even find the races. Believe me that I know my way around the Timken catalog and I couldn't not find races that fit.
