new wheel bearings// inner sleeve needed? was created by MkII
is the metal inner sleeve really needed that fits in between the bearings within the front and rear hubs?? will the inner I.D. of the bearings be enough support for the axle?

thanks Jim, I expected it so I didn't seat the 2nd bearing.
I'm switching from spokes to mags and transfering pieces over and finding obvious dimensional differences this sleeve being a big difference as I'll have to cut it down to fit as its considerably longer.
anyone know the length of the sleeve for mag wheel application??

Assuming it's a 79 KZ1000A3 mag wheel, all the following models used the same spacer.
Model (37):
H1-D (1973)
H1-E (1974)
H1-F (1975)
KH400-A3 (1976)
KH400-A4 (1977)
KH400-A5 (1978)
KH500-A8 (1976)
KZ1000-A1 (KZ1000) (1977)
KZ1000-A2 (KZ1000) (1978)
KZ1000-A2A (KZ1000) (1978)
KZ1000-A3 (KZ1000) (1979)
KZ1000-A3A (KZ1000) (1979)
KZ1000-A4 (KZ1000) (1980)
KZ1000-D1 (Z1R) (1978)
KZ1000-D3 (Z1R) (1980)
KZ1000-G1 (Classic) (1980)
KZ400-B1 (1978)
KZ400-B2 (1979)
KZ650-B1 (1977)
KZ650-B2 (1978)
KZ650-B2A (1978)
KZ650-B3 (1979)
KZ650-C1 (Custom) (1977)
KZ650-C2 (Custom) (1978)
KZ650-C3 (Custom) (1979)
KZ650-D1 (SR) (1978)
KZ650-D1A (SR) (1978)
KZ650-D2 (SR) (1979)
KZ650-E1 (LTD) (1980)
KZ650-F1 (1980)
KZ750-B1 (1976)
KZ750-B2 (1977)
KZ750-B3 (1978)
KZ750-B4 (1979)
KZ750-G1 (LTD II) (1980)
KZ900-A4 (1976)
KZ900-A5 (1977)
According to that list the A1 uses the same spacer, so the one out of your wire spoke wheel should work. However, kawasaki.com parts diagrams are not always correct.

sorry I should have incl. more info on what I'm doing....
I have a set of mags for my 77a1, IIRC they are from a 79mkII as I wanted the 18" rear, anyway I was transplanting the parts from the oem spoke wheels and found the inner sleeve to be longer on the spoke wheels than the mags by around an inch, the fronts are almost the same.
I have a few more 18" mags laying around and found the sleeve from a 81 1000P to fit exact so I didn't have to shorten the one out of the spoke wheel. thanks for all the info boys.
