Replacement Sight Glass for Master Cylinders

So I needed to replace my 82 LTD master cylinder with something different as I switched to superbike bars. The original was too big and canted for the buckhorns that came on the bike. I found a cheap 85 zx900 ninja model that was the perfect size for cheap. As I figured it was in need of a rebuild kit due to it's age..ok, but what I didn't realize was that they came originally with a plastic sight glass which had turned to dust long ago...crap. Of course Mother Kaw doesn't sell them (never did) and no luck on ebay. So an internet search turned up these guys www.newrivercyclesalvage.com
they make and sell glass sight glass replacement kits for lots of bikes for $12.50 + $2.50 shipping. I've ordered one, and I hope it works out. Seems like guys on the ninja forums approve.

Wasn't sure if this was common knowledge or not, so I thought I would pass it on just in case. I'll let you know what I think when I receive it.

Thanks for the heads up! B)

It's cheaper and sure beats buying a questionable used M/S off of eBay.

So i got the kit installed today which consisted of a piece of glass and two new stainless hex screws for the cover. Although I was hoping for a nice new o-ringed piece, it actually worked out well since I was able to salvage the metal ring from the original. Some RTV and worked like a champ. Not bad for $15 ;)

Now let's see how long the RTV lasts in the brake fluid. I give it, oh about a week or two. Than I expect all the fluid to wind up on your tank. This may sound like a sarcasm, but unfortunately it is true. If RTV comes into contact with brake fluid it will turn into jelly quite quickly.

That brake fluid will eat the RTV then your Paint, plastics, etc. Better fix it right away, it could be a mess in the morning even.
