Need some help figuring out how to get these off without doing any more damage than I already have.
I've got grips like this:
And I need to get them off, but intend to put them back on again. I've tried channel locks with a towel protecting the grip. It still chewed up the grip and it barely budged.
I've sprayed some WD-40 between the grip and the bar. The problem is getting a good enough "grip" on the grips without damaging them.
Any suggestions?

The RH side should come off the bars with the throttle sleeve.
To get the left side off without marking it, you need an airline with a duster gun or similar on the end.
Shove the duster gun inside the handlebar where you've just puled the throttle sleeve from and mask off around it as much as possible with your hand or a rag whatever, to stop all the air escaping from the duster end and squeeze the trigger.
It will blow your other grip straight off the bar so have someone ready to catch it
It does not take huge amounts of pressure to shift the grip unless it was glued on. Obviously this wont work on clip-ons, or solid bars
If you have conventional grips with the small holes in the end, you do not even need to remove the throttle sleeve. Just stick the duster gun in the throttle grip and it will shove the LH side grip off

Really? That sounds kinda fun. I don't have an air compressor, but I've got a friend who would probably help with this.
Thanks for the tip!

It's likely not in the health and safety manuals - but i have removed lots of grips from customer bikes like that.
On normal handlebars - the only time it's not worked well, is when the grip has been glued in place.
