KZ750 Ltd identity H1 or H2 was created by Tommotbird
Hi
Can anyone help with identifying my 2 x KZ750 Ltd's please. They were both imported to the UK from the USA in the mid 90's.
I think they are probably H1's but I am not sure.

2) Vin JKAKZDH18BA019454 Engine Don't know at the moment.

Forgot to mention that bike 2 (blue) has a Mikuni Carburetor with accelerator pump rather than the Keihin CV34. Would like to fit a CV34 that I have as a spare if possible.

Geoff, I have to agree at least on the blue one that it is an 81 the other pic is too small for me to tell. This is based mainly on the 2 piece seat which was only used in 80 and 81 in 82 they went to a one piece seat like what you have on your CSR 650. Also on the 82 models there is a small tube on the frame that comes from the factory capped off to allow the addition of an accessory cable for locking the bike that stows away in the frame. I can take a pic if you'd like since I have both a couple of 81's and an 82 as well.

Hello Andy, Martin & GPz550D1
Thanks for the replies. I am still not exactly sure however, both bikes have the muffler stay recesses painted black and neither has the accessory cable tube on the frame.
One of the things that is misleading me a bit is that official Kawasaki Service manual states that the grease nipple on the swing arm was deleted on the 1981 H2. Mine have the grease nipple but I could not be certain that the swing arms are original- they look like they are. Also for the blue one I have the import certificate and a certificate of proof of year of manufacture which states 1980- the certificate was supplied by a company here in the UK so could be wrong also.
Main reason for my query is that I am looking for a new harness & would prefer to buy the right one as there are small differences between the H1 & H2.
Is there a database where I can check the Vin numbers for sure?
Regards
Geoff

According to the two serial numbers provided, they are both 1981 model H-2's. I plugged your two serial numbers in at Kawasaki.com and that is what they said, so unless Kawasaki is wrong, would say that they are both 1981 models.

1981 KZ550-D1

Thanks for the help.
Checked out Kawasaki.com and yes they are both listed as 1981 H2's. Checked the parts diagrams on both the H1 & H2 and I seem to have the swing arms from an H1 which have the grease nipple. The wiring harnesses are definitely different on the parts diagrams, I have nearly removed the harness from the bike so it will be interesting to see which one it is.
