I've found that bubbles can be pushed out of the master cylinder back up into the master cylinder reservoir by just pumping a very short stroke with the bleed valve closed.
It's a painfully slow process but it works. I've also come to the conclusion that you may not be able to complete the process in one setting. Perhaps the bubbles need time to rise to the top of the system.
Have you tried placing some shims between the pads and elevating the calipers above the master cylinder?
Can you tell, I've been where you are before?

Based on my experience bleeding the front on my CX500...make sure the bike it straight up, and not on the side stand. The piston will hold air based on the design. I assumed it to be like a car piston....and this one was not. Just a thought.
