will an earlier gpz gas tank fit a later model? i.e. my 1984? ive always thought my bike especially the tanks was kind of an ugly duck. the earlier gpz tanks are more or less flat along the bottom of the tank and look better...

Hey Steve, thats kind of tricky. Based on the shape of the GPz frame, and how the gas tank tunnel is shaped. I've personally tried my 1981 kz 1000 tank and my 1995 kz 1000 tank, neither one fits. I have'nt had the chance to try any other GPz years. That might be on the tough side, being they changed body and frame styles kinda frequently on this model. Any luck let me know.

As has been suggested, none of the earlier tanks are drop-on replacements for later bikes. However, that said, I have seen later GPz bikes with earlier GPz tanks. A considerable amount of reshaping the tunnel was done to accommodate the later frame. I don't recall the specifics.
