Steering stem was created by Mollylab
Hi,
I am new to the forum, am in the process of restoring a '79 KZ 1000 MK II, and have a question re: the steering stem, my apologies if this subject has already been covered: will the steering stem from a '79 KZ 650 fit my bike?
Appreciate any help you can give me.
Thanks,
Phil

Hello, Mollylab, and WELCOME to KZr forum! :cheer:

The parts info shown at kawasaki.com lists 6 KZ1000 models sharing the same steering stem:

Model (6):
KZ1000-A3 (KZ1000) (1979)
KZ1000-A3A (KZ1000) (1979)
KZ1000-A4 (KZ1000) (1980)
KZ1000-B3 (KZ1000 LTD) (1979)
KZ1000-B4 (LTD) (1980)
KZ1000-G1 (Classic) (1980)

But this doesn't guarantee that someone with actual hands-on experience won't come along and say the '79KZ650 fits okay or can be feasibly modified to fit.

With only the kawasaki.com info at hand, would not risk purchasing a non-refundable steering stem from any model besides those listed as sharing the same part.

Lots of good info on kawasaki.com, including parts diagrams, part numbers, models sharing same part, availability, etc.

Here's a link for help with navigating the site and finding information.
