How to adjust the odometer? was created by Kapahulu
My odometer shows less mileage than the title. Apparently the speedometer/odometer is not original.
Can I "up" the mileage on the odometer by hooking the cable up to a drill or something like that? Reason: If I should happen to sell the bike, it makes things complicated going to the DMV with a title that shows more miles than the odometer. In Hawaii we have vehicle safety inspections with the mileage is noted. The safety inspection certificate must be presented when the title is transferred.
Thanks, Mike

I suppose you could get an electric drill and run the miles up by spinning the cable(if your bike has the cable driven speedometer). Some Kawasaki's had an electric speedometer using sensors, making this job a lot harder.

It's cable driven, just wondering if that method will work.

It sure will. I've done it before, but I used a dremel. It takes a little while, depending on how many miles you need to roll on of course
