Rear master cylinder rebuild kit ??? was created by kenthewrench
Having a hard time finding a rebuild kit for my 1980 KZ1000E(shaft) model. Does anyone know of another model that has the same rear M/C ?? K&L and Sudco don't have listings for the rear. Thanks====Ken

Unless cups are torn, master cylinders may often be restored to serviceable condition with the existing parts.
But a new cir-clip may be necessary.
According to kawasaki.com, the piston, primary cup, and dust cover are shown as active parts, meaning they should be available through Kawasaki dealerships.
Good Fortune!

Thanks for the info Patton. So I should be able to order a kit under one of the other models and I would think the same parts would be in it correct ??

Don't know the extent of damage/wear yet. Its leaking out of the boot, which tells me "past the piston and seal".

Dis-assembly and cleaning, along with "dressing" the bore, might eliminate the leak, depending on condition of the cups.
If the bore is pitted too badly, even new cups may not prevent leaking.
Surprisingly enough, some pitting in the bore seems to be okay.

kawasaki.com shows most all the needed parts as being still Active.
Anybody can do it, and it's usually very helpful to learn about using kawasaki.com with its good parts diagrams, part numbers, availability, shared use among models, etc.
Click here > kzrider.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&...w&catid=13&id=376734
There are also a few other sites with good parts diagrams.

I had a similar problem with mine. I was unable to locate a replacement piston assembly or any dealer parts other then the reservoir, and cap.
you have the mc mounted up on the frame with a long push rod correct.
What I ended up doing on mine was a member on here had a salvageable non leaking unit that I bought.
I know that Z1 enterprises does not have any seals for the 1980 kz1000e2 shaft style master cylinder. All I could find for mine was rebuilds for the 78 and before with the reservoir on the mc and the 81 and after style with the very short push rod.
the mc that your bike has is the same as the kz1000 a4. at least that is what I found when redoing the the one on my kz1000e2 shaft
www.kawasakiepc.com/SystemSearch_Frames....252&CFTOKEN=51065438
that is the mc your bike should have.
part4 along with the body on mine was bad.
I would try a good cleaning then testing to see if it leaks. again.
