What kind of metal are bike frames? was created by KZ7hundy
I figure motorcycle frames are mostly steel. Is it stainless steel or mild alloy steel for most? I have an 84 kz700

Old Kaws (Z1-KZ900) are cold rolled mild steel with a seam.
No stainless! Newer sport bikes are aluminum.
"The infamous Puppet", gas welded a titanium, Top Fuel frame for Elmer Trett in the early 80's
Race stuff now is chromolly, "DOM", extruded, drawn over a mandrel. .065" thick.
You can pick up a 1000 HP top fuel drag bike chassis in 1 hand!
