Yet another extended swingarm question was created by rhino
Let me start by apologizing for posting another question about swingarms. I have read thousands of posts over the last couple of weeks and have not been able to find any answers so here it goes.
I have a 1980 KZ1000 LTD that I want to stretch 6 inches over stock. I am aware that I will need a different swingarm to do this. The situation is this: I am puting 2007 Yamaha R6 wheels on it, I already have the front end taken care of but I was wondering if anyone has tried to fit an R6 or R1 swingarm on the KZ. If so, what all did it take?
Am I better of using something else and fitting the rear wheel and brake? I'm stumped here.
Thanks for the help.

6 inches? Must not be many twisty roads in your area; so why stop at 6 inches? :woohoo:

dont know how much money you want to spend but i would get ahold of d&g chassis and have one made. vary easy to talk to and he will help you get what you want. go on ebay - then motors - put in dragbike. he has a few of them on there you will be able to get ahold of him there.depending on how wide your tire is you mite need a offset sprocket.

What a dick! Not what he was asking.
Any of the early gsxr swingarms fit pretty well minor mods (87-95). The hayabusa arm fits also with some spacer bushings but it has a tall upper brace could be a problem if you are going to lower the bike.

im using zx6 stuff but where there is a will there is a way the zx wheel I have is 5.5" wide I thing D&G told me I needed a 10.5" wide at the axle swingarm after I bought 2 other ones. there are alot of guys on here that have plenty of fab experience if you get a swingarm they can lengthen it for you without too much trouble i am sure. but to answer your question I dont know very much about the R6 wheels and swingarm conversion.
If you can get someone to measure the pivot width of the r6 swingarm and its 9" or not much over you may be in business. The guys at D&G are super helpful if you have deep pockets I couldn't afford to drop 500.00 at one sitting I will be close to that I am sure but a nickel at a time is easier for me

$375 for 6" over, I just need your axle size and where you want your brake stay, comes with complete new swingarm bearing kit.

Just checked out your work on your Z1R. Looks great. I'll chat with you via messaging about it. Thanks.
